Following Suffolk Swords’ visits to Orford Castle earlier this year to capture footage for a showreel (available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioe11r41ndU&ab_channel=SuffolkSwords ), over the Autumn half term 2024 we were back for 3 days of living history demonstrations within the castle keep. Portraying characters from the castle’s history in the Wars of the Roses period such as the castle cook, archer, captain of the guard, constable and sheriff, Suffolk Swords kept the public enthralled with many interactive displays including teaching the public how to lose badly at dice and card games! This was our first event supporting an English Heritage site following our successful bid to become an approved English Heritage supplier earlier in the year and we hope to support many more events at sites such as Orford Castle and Framlingham Castle in the very near future. Watch this space!
